The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (abbreviated as CGBSE) is the education board in the state of Chhattisgarh. After the formation of Chhattisgarh State, the Chhattisgarh Secondary Education Board was constituted by Chhattisgarh Government School Education Department Notification No. F10-5- / 13/2001 Raipur 20-7-2001. The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education was formed to improve the quality of education in the state by promoting and developing secondary education in the state. The main role of the CG Board is to conduct the class 10 and 12 exams for all the schools affiliated with the Chhattisgarh board across the state. CG Board is the state agency of Government of Chhattisgarh in India responsible for the promotion and development of secondary education in Chhattisgarh.

History of CGBSE 

Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education is CGBSE Full form. Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, Raipur was set up by the Government of Chhattisgarh under Act 1965 (No-23) on 20 January 2001. CGBSE is a board of education in the state of Chhattisgarh and is responsible for conducting the high school exams (Class 10) and higher secondary exams (Class 12). There are a few other exams which are also being conducted by the Chhattisgarh board like Higher Secondary (Professional) School leaving certificate exam, etc.

Functions of Chattisgarh Board

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education is responsible for prescribing the syllabus for the affiliated schools in the state. The board designs the syllabus strategically and introduces all the topics to the students in a brain-mapped way.

CGBSE Exam Pattern

In the CGBSE exam, there are objective as well as subjective questions. The total marks in the class 10 exams are 100 in which 75 marks is written while the remaining 25 are the internal marks. The total duration of the exams are 3 hours and the same pattern is even followed in  CG Board Class 12 exam also.   • Total Students in CGBSE 10th and 12th Exams

The Class 10 and Class 12 exams are conducted every year by the CG  board across various test-centres in the state. The CG Board exams are generally conducted in the months of March and April and each of the exams is taken by almost 25 to 30 thousand students. Below is an overview of the total students appearing for class 10 and 12 exams in the past couple of years.

CGBSE had 4,67,261 students registered for the 10th exams in 2021, of whom 4,46,393 earned their first divisions, while 9,024 were awarded their second divisions. In total, 2,24,112 boys and 2,31,999 girls from the state registered for secondary exams. There was a 100% pass rate this year. Based on assignment results, 96.41% of students passed with 1st division, while 0.08% passed with 3rd division. Meanwhile, for Class 12, the result was declared for 2,84,107 candidates. About 341 students were expected to get their results later.

It can be seen that the total students appearing for the CG Board Classes 12 and 10 exams are increasing which shows the enrolments are high. Also, CGBSE has a good retention rate as the difference between total students in Classes 10 and 12 are less.

  • Performance of Students in Class 10 and 12

The Chhattisgarh board thrives to improve the quality of education in the affiliated schools. In general, the pass percentage of CGBSE board is good and is increasing in the past couple of months. The overall pass percentage for Class 10 in 2020 was 73.62%, while this year overall pass is 100%.

CGBSE 2021 Exam Dates and Results

The CGBSE Classes 10 and 12 Exam Results 2021 was officially released in July 2021. Meanwhile, last year, Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education, CGBSE had earlier declared ‘CGBSE Result 2020’ or ‘CGBSE 10th Result 2020’ and ‘CGBSE 12th Result 2020’ on the official website. For 2020, the pass percentage for Class 10 was at 73. 62%, while for Class 12, it stood at 78.59%.  Alternatively, the 2021 results stands at 100% for Class 10 and at 97.43% for Class 12.

Generally, the CG Board Class 10 exams are conducted in the month of March while the CGBSE Class 12 exams are conducted from March to April. The Class 10 exams start by the first week of March and end by last week of March while the Class 12 exams start by the first week of March and end by the first week of April. The board declares the results within a month after the commencement of the exams.

The CGBSE Class 10 exams, due to be conducted on 15 April 2021 to 1 May 2021 were cancelled. The CGBSE Class 12 exams, meanwhile, were conducted from home. Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education released the Class 12th time table 2021 on its official website. The examinations were conducted between June 1 and 5, 2021 and the students were allowed to write their exams from home.
